local info
Heron Lodge is situated in the heart of Royal Deeside, an area rich in historical, cultural and natural heritage so visitors are utterly spoilt for choice of ways they can spend some quality time in this beautiful corner of Scotland at any time of year. It's also ideal for a few nights stop over for travellers doing the North East 250 being only about an hour drive from Aberdeen.
Even if you don’t want to go far from the comfort of the lodge there are plenty of walks of various levels nearby including the Tarland Way that take you to either Aboyne or Tarland where there are cafes, shops, carry outs and pubs after a 45 minute walk or if you hire our bikes just 15 to 20 minutes.
There will be plenty of maps, leaflets and event listings in the lodge for you to browse and we will be happy to give suggestions when you arrive but here’s some links if you want to do some prior research.
